The manufacture of power connections (bare or wrapped) for the railway sector is one of Concept Metal’s historical activities. Indeed, Concept Métal has been able to create unique know-how to serve one of the major players in this sector. Since 2015, Concept Métal has also integrated insulation into its business to offer its customers a complete range of services.

Power connection manufacturing process
There are three cutting methods for power connections. The choice of cutting method depends on the thickness and/or shape of the part. We offer waterjet cutting, laser cutting or saw cutting.
The manufacturing scheme for a power connection is as follows: cutting, milling, deburring, bending, soldering, surface treatment, insulation and/or equipment (riveting or cage nuts).
We also offer the more conventional saw-cutting method, followed by bending, punching, folding and brazing.
For brazing, we have operators qualified with QMOB (qualification mode opératoire de brasage).

The final stage consists of a visual inspection and dielectric test, carried out in-house. Our inspectors are electrically qualified.
The test consists of passing a certain voltage across the connection to ensure insulation conformity. This voltage can reach 9500 V for a duration of 1 minute.
Power connections accounted for around 17% of sales in 2024.
The department is made up of 5 people dedicated to and trained in this activity, including a team leader.
